Welcome to my blog, and thanks for stopping by!
In this stream of consciousness, I make my best attempt to capture my experiences as a runner and living abroad… and the occasional intersection of the two.
My husband, M., is a Foreign Service Officer with the U.S. Department of State. His work takes us to fascinating places all over the world. I tag along, eat bonbons, watch soap operas, and host fancy wine and cheese parties for other diplomat types.
I am an English teacher, usually of middle school, but in this lifestyle, flexibility is a requirement, so I do my best to have an open mind toward all sorts of opportunities wherever we land, including being able to document our journey through this blog.
I started writing for an online audience in 2011 as I was preparing for a 12-hour footrace. That blog slowly evolved into this one through a series of unexpected yet wonderful life changes.
At the moment, we are posted in Riga, Latvia. Our first foreign service post was in Matamoros, Mexico, after which we spent about eight months in Arlington, Virginia while M. learned Russian in preparation for our time in Riga. We are very excited for the opportunity to explore a part of the world new to us! Fortunately, I was able to find a teaching job at one of Riga’s international schools.
Thanks for visiting, and I hope you will join me as I travel the world with my loving, supportive husband, our sweet pup Frieda, and my ever-loyal running shoes.
